Iran's Underground Missile Cities Resist US Bunker-Buster Bombs, The Times Reports

The Times reported that the Iranian regime has built extensive underground tunnels housing missile cities capable of enduring even the bunker-buster bombs threatened by US President Donald Trump.

The report clarified that the US Air Force possesses only one type of conventional bomb capable of reaching deeply buried facilities. The GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP), weighing 30,000 pounds and deployed by B-2 stealth bombers against Natanz and the Fordow and Isfahan nuclear sites last year, can penetrate only an estimated 200 feet underground.

The Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security, cited by the newspaper, anticipated that an attack on Mount Al-Faw might target above-ground power supply lines, ventilation shaft sites—which were struck in attacks in June of the previous year—and open tunnel entrances.

In an interview, President Trump stated, "We are closely watching Mount Al-Faw. We will eliminate it. Tell the Iranians to be ready."

Nonetheless, despite the US military’s currently limited stockpile of MOP bombs—having used 14 out of 20 in the "Midnight Hammer" operation—it cannot guarantee disabling Mount Al-Faw for an extended period.
