The Asayish security forces of the Kurdistan Region announced on Monday the dismantling of a 22-member ISIS cell operating under the name 'Kurdistan Province.' This follows a separate attack by ISIS militants on federal police near Kirkuk.

The Asayish security forces of the Kurdistan Region announced yesterday, Monday, the dismantling of an terrorist group affiliated with ISIS, which was active under the name “Kurdistan Province.”
In a statement reported by the agency "Baghdad Al-Yawm," the force stated that the group consisted of 22 members, confirming that its forces managed to arrest all of them.
It noted that the operation came within the framework of security efforts aimed at pursuing cells linked to ISIS and thwarting their activities inside the Kurdistan Region.
Earlier yesterday, two security sources told Reuters that an Iraqi policeman was killed and four others were injured on Monday when armed men from ISIS attacked a Federal Police site southwest of the oil-rich city of Kirkuk.
The sources added that the attackers used semi-automatic rifles and sniper fire in the assault on a Federal Police battalion near Hawija, located approximately 70 kilometers southwest of Kirkuk.
No party has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. However, security and military sources reported that ISIS militants, who remain active in the area, are involved in the attack.
