German authorities treated a potential air emergency as jet fighters escorted a landing aircraft, while separate drone sightings disrupted operations.

A spokesperson for the German police stated that authorities handled an incident involving a passenger aircraft as a possible air emergency. The nature of the situation has not yet been confirmed, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the event.
The security operation took place shortly before the landing of a plane arriving from Corfu Island in Greece. Information obtained by the German News Agency indicated that a code related to an emergency situation had been issued prior to the aircraft's descent.
An airport spokesperson confirmed that the plane landed safely. He explained that Eurofighter jets accompanied the aircraft during its flight before leaving the area. Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the potential threat or the specific reasons that necessitated the military fighter escort.
In a distinct incident, Nuremberg Airport experienced a security alert early on Tuesday following reports of an object suspected to be a drone near the facility. Police reported that three pilots separately observed an unidentified object during takeoff or landing procedures.
Following these reports, border police launched search operations in coordination with the airport administration and the German Air Traffic Control Authority. A police helicopter participated in the efforts, but searches did not result in the discovery of any drone.
Security measures linked to the drone reports caused delays for six flights, comprising two arrivals and four departures. Two incoming aircraft were forced to divert their routes precautionarily to Cologne and Prague airports before eventually completing their journeys to Nuremberg.
It remains unclear whether there is a connection between the suspected air emergency involving the fighter jets and the earlier reports of drone sightings near the airport.
