Kim Jong Un Orders Expansion of North Korea's Nuclear Forces
North Korea plans to enhance its nuclear forces in size and type, with Kim Jong Un calling for military capability modernization.

North Korea has announced plans to strengthen its nuclear forces both in scale and type, as its leader Kim Jong Un urged an upgrade of the country's military capabilities, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Friday.
The agency reported that these measures and Kim's statements were made during an expanded meeting of the Central Military Commission of the ruling Workers' Party held on Thursday, as cited by Reuters.
Kim emphasized that the security of North Korea and "true peace" can only be secured by building a strong army capable of countering all threats.
The meeting outlined plans to renew the technical infrastructure of combat systems, expand and reinforce nuclear forces, unify military base standards, and modernize them.
