Kim Jong Un's Public Appearances Reach Highest Level Since 2014
Kim Jong Un appeared publicly 92 times in the first half of 2026, marking the highest frequency since 2014, according to Yonhap.

According to Yonhap, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un made 92 public appearances during the first six months of 2026, the highest number recorded since 2014.
The agency cited its own calculations and research conducted by South Korea's Institute for National Unification, noting that Kim's 92 appearances from January to June 2026 surpass previous figures for the same period.
In comparison, Kim attended 105 public events in the first half of 2013 and 93 events in the first half of 2014. For the January to June period in 2025, the number of appearances was 50.
Yonhap highlighted that military-related public events constitute the most frequent category of Kim Jong Un's appearances, with 30 such events observed during the six-month span.
This figure represents the highest since December 2011, when Kim Jong Un assumed power. Over the entire previous year, he met with military personnel 43 times.
Additionally, Kim's daughter, known publicly as Kim Ju-ae, appeared alongside him in media reports 19 times over the six months, with 11 of those appearances linked to military events. Her first media appearance in North Korea was in November 2022.
