Macron Shares Video Touring Damascus with Ahmed Al-Shara
French President Emmanuel Macron posted a video of a visit to Damascus with Ahmed Al-Shara, including a stop at the Umayyad Mosque.

French President Emmanuel Macron released a video showing him alongside Ahmed Al-Shara during their visit to Damascus, where they toured several locations including the Umayyad Mosque.
The video was shared on Macron’s account on the platform X (formerly Twitter) with a caption in Arabic stating, "The history between Syria and France is a story of trust greater than us."
During a press conference with Al-Shara on Tuesday, Macron announced France's readiness to return over 50 million euros, described as illicit gains belonging to a member of Bashar al-Assad’s family, according to the Syrian official news agency.
The agency reported that this follows the signing of a declaration of intent between the French and Syrian foreign ministers regarding funds looted by the criminal Rifaat al-Assad from Syria. The declaration is said to pave the way for the first recovery of confiscated Syrian assets abroad, aiming to redirect them towards projects serving the Syrian people and aligning with state priorities.
