Major Security Incident Near US Air Base in Britain (Video)

British police announced a "major incident" in the Welford area of Gloucestershire, near Royal Air Force base "Fairford," following the arrest of several men on suspicion of committing offenses under the Explosives Act.

Gloucestershire Police said a number of homes in the area were evacuated as a precautionary measure, while residents were moved to a nearby leisure center, and authorities imposed a security cordon around the site, according to The Telegraph newspaper.

The police stated that a specialized team from the British Army for handling munitions and explosives arrived at the scene and began inspecting a number of vehicles, confirming that the incident was "under control" and that they were working with relevant agencies according to established emergency plans.

Welford is located close to the base, which hosts personnel from the US Air Force, and is considered one of the sites used by the United States in its ongoing military operations in the region.
