Netherlands Pledges €15 Million for Syria Reconstruction Efforts
The Dutch Foreign Ministry announced a €15 million allocation to support recovery and reconstruction projects in Syria during the current year.

The Netherlands has committed 15 million euros to assist recovery and reconstruction initiatives in Syria within the current year, according to an announcement by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The funding pledge was delivered by Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade, Schouten Schordisma, while attending the World Bank’s annual meeting.
Minister Schordisma confirmed that the allocated funds will be disbursed immediately this year. This rapid release is expected to accelerate the commencement of reconstruction projects across the Syrian Arab Republic.
Focus on Essential Services and Agriculture
A statement published on the ministry’s official website clarified that the initiative prioritizes the needs of the Syrian population. The program aims to restore access to vital basic services while stimulating the national economy, with specific emphasis on the agricultural sector.
This financial commitment aligns with broader efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two nations. Earlier reports from the news outlet "Dutch News," citing the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry, indicated that Dutch and Syrian authorities had agreed to establish a joint committee.
Joint Committee Addresses Return Issues
The newly formed joint committee is tasked with discussing and resolving several outstanding files. Among its primary objectives is facilitating the return of Syrian citizens to their home country.
