A Nigerian Air Force aircraft carrying 32 people crashed in Ondo State on Monday, prompting a search and rescue operation.
A Nigerian Air Force plane carrying 32 individuals went down in the southern part of the country, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred on Monday morning in the Igbede area of Ondo State.
Passenger and Crew Details
Festival Kiamu, the Minister of Aviation, provided preliminary figures indicating that the aircraft held 25 passengers alongside seven crew members. These numbers constitute the initial assessment of those onboard at the time of the crash.
Search and Rescue Operations
The Nigerian Air Force issued a statement confirming the launch of a search and rescue mission following the accident. The military identified the aircraft involved as an ATR-42 model.
According to the Air Force, the plane was en route from Benin City to Lagos when the crash took place. Minister Kiamu added that the location of the wreckage has been successfully pinpointed by rescue teams.
