South Korea’s military confirmed North Korea launched an unidentified projectile eastward, hours before large-scale US-South Korea joint exercises targeting Pyongyang’s nuclear and advanced military capabilities begin on 17 August.
South Korea’s military reported early Wednesday morning that North Korea had fired an unidentified projectile toward the East Sea, according to Yonhap News Agency.
The launch occurred as South Korea and the United States prepare to conduct large-scale joint military exercises from 17 to 27 August. The drills aim to strengthen readiness against North Korea’s advancing nuclear and military capabilities.
Earlier this month, the South Korean military announced that Pyongyang had launched a short-range ballistic missile into the sea.
