Nuclear Energy: Iranian Movements at Uranium Enrichment Storage Tunnel

A draft report from the International Atomic Energy Agency noted repeated vehicle movements at the entrance of a tunnel in Isfahan, south of Tehran, which stores uranium enriched to 60%.

The draft stated that information remains incomplete regarding the exact location of the fuel enrichment facility in Isfahan and its legal status, noting that the agency has been unable to carry out any inspection activities at facilities that have been struck by military attacks since June/July 2025.

It added that Iran has not activated the Additional Protocol and has not provided updated data or declarations to the agency since February 2021, while confirming its full readiness to resume verification and safeguards activities in Iran as soon as permitted.

The draft also pointed out that satellite images revealed physical damage to the heavy water production facility in Khondab due to an attack on March 27, adding that the agency still lacks information about the precise location and legal status of the fuel enrichment facility in Isfahan.
