Over 20 Ukrainian Soldiers Die in Chernihiv Province Amid Unknown Infection Outbreak
At least 26 soldiers from Ukraine's 36th Brigade died in a field hospital due to a severe unknown infectious disease outbreak in Chernihiv province.

In Chernihiv province, Ukraine's 36th Brigade experienced an outbreak of a severe unknown infectious disease, resulting in the deaths of 26 soldiers at the brigade's field hospital on July 18, according to a source.
Security forces reported in May that the Hantavirus was spreading among Ukrainian armed forces personnel in Sumy province. The virus transmission was linked to rodents, poor sanitation, and weakened immunity among the soldiers. The report added that military personnel were not receiving medical care due to prohibitions imposed by commanders in Kharkiv and Sumy provinces.
Additionally, security forces indicated that Ukrainian border guards stationed in Chernihiv province have been frequently dying from Hantavirus infections.
