Officials said Russian attacks killed at least 8 people and injured 60 others across Ukraine on Friday, targeting two shopping centers and causing temporary power outages for more than a million people after strikes hit the energy grid.

Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine, announced that a 71-year-old woman and a 58-year-old man were killed, and 12 others were injured, in attacks targeting three districts. He had previously stated that the death toll had reached three.

Officials said further Russian strikes during the evening resulted in 9 injuries.

Two people were killed in attacks targeting the city of Kramatorsk, located near the front line in the Donetsk region, while two others were killed in the Dnipropetrovsk region in the southeast of the country.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy announced that its maintenance teams restored electricity to more than a million people who lost power due to Russian attacks today, Friday. It was unclear how many remained without electricity.

Roman Romaniuk, governor of the Volyn region, said a drone attack targeted a food processing facility in the northwestern Ukrainian region bordering Poland, killing one person and injuring eight others.

He added that 370,000 people temporarily lost power in the morning, but 100,000 of them later regained supply.

Lutsk Mayor Andriy Razumovskyi said on "Facebook" that the power outage could last for at least 24 hours in Lutsk, the capital of the Volyn region.

Romaniuk said drone attacks continued throughout the day, targeting a customs checkpoint and setting fire to about 10 trucks in the city of Kovel, located on a main road connecting Kyiv with Poland.

Officials said other attacks targeted at least two commercial centers, one in the northern Ukrainian city of Sumy near the front line, and another in the neighboring Rivne region, in the latest wave of Russian attacks on shopping malls and markets.

Images published by emergency services in Sumy showed blood scattered on the ground and footage of the damaged entrance to the center.

Oleksandr Koval, governor of the Rivne region, said one person was killed and seven injured following a drone attack targeting a major commercial center and other sites in the region.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy said large parts of the city of Rivne and surrounding areas lost power after attacks on energy infrastructure there.
