Putin Tells Pezeshkian Russia Aims to Supply Essential Goods to Iran

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that “the Russian people stand alongside the Iranian people in their struggle for their interests” during a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held in Kyrgyzstan.

Putin stated that “Russia and Iran maintain their economic and trade relations despite the current military and political conditions.” He noted that “Russia welcomed the signing of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, but the ceasefire has proven fragile.”

He confirmed that “Moscow seeks to support Iran in its difficult situation by providing essential goods.”
