Rostec Unveils “Bison” Drone-Destruction System Outside Russia for First

Rostec’s press service announced that its subsidiary High-Precision Systems will unveil the “Bison” drone-destruction system globally for the first time outside Russia at the Egypt International Airshow 2026. The event is scheduled to take place from 8 to 10 September at Alamein International Airport in Egypt.

First overseas demonstration of the “Bison” system

According to a statement issued by Rostec’s press service, High-Precision Systems — a company under Russia’s state-owned Rostec Corporation — will present the “Bison” (Wild Bull) airborne-target engagement system outside Russia for the first time. The system will be showcased as part of the Egypt International Airshow 2026, also known as the El Alamein International Airshow.

Design and operational capabilities

The “Bison” system is designed to protect critical infrastructure against unmanned aerial vehicles. It is intended to integrate into multi-layered air defence architectures. The system targets aerial objects that are difficult for conventional air defence systems to engage — specifically small-sized, low-flying aerial targets. To neutralize such threats, it employs PKT 7.62 mm machine guns. The system automatically detects and tracks drones, transmits target designation data to the gun platforms, and leaves only the final decision to engage to the operator.

Strategic role in layered air defence

Bekkhan Azdoyev, Industrial Director of the Armament Cluster at Rostec, stated: “It is extremely important that the development by High-Precision Systems performs combat duty and successfully engages real airborne targets, demonstrating high responsiveness to aerial threats. In principle, ‘Bison’ serves as the last line of defence, intervening when response time is measured in seconds.”

Azdoyev added that the system can operate autonomously or as an integrated component within a unified counter-drone protection framework. It collaborates with other aerial target detection assets not only by receiving their data but also by contributing its own data to build a comprehensive air situation picture.

Russian national pavilion participation

The “Bison” system will be displayed within the unified Russian national pavilion at the Egypt International Airshow 2026. The pavilion is organized by Rosoboronexport, Russia’s state-controlled weapons export agency.
