US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that progress has been made in negotiations with Iran concerning the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Rubio clarified that no definitive agreement has been finalized on the waterway, though he expressed hope for a deal “very soon.”
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said an agreement with Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz could be reached “tomorrow, Wednesday.”
That timeline aligns with remarks made by former US President Donald Trump on Monday, who indicated the waterway’s reopening “could happen within hours,” following his withdrawal of threats to launch a large-scale military strike against Iran.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied the existence of any ongoing negotiations with Washington.
