A Ukrainian official told AFP that Russia rejected a Ukrainian proposal to extend the ceasefire in the city of Oleshky.
Last October 27, a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia came into effect to allow humanitarian aid to enter the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky, after former US First Lady Melania Trump had announced its achievement earlier.
Oleshky and its residents face a constant threat from explosive drones, both Russian and Ukrainian, which target vehicles, while the roads leading to the city are mined with landmines.
According to former residents who spoke to AFP in early October, this situation has caused a severe shortage of food and medicine in recent weeks.
Both Ukraine and Russia acknowledge a humanitarian crisis in the city, but they blame each other for obstructing the delivery of food supplies and evacuation operations.
