Russian envoy cites 9,000 civilian deaths from Kyiv attacks since 2022

Rodion Miroshnik, a special missions ambassador for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that nine thousand civilians have lost their lives within the Russian Federation. This figure includes victims in the new regions that joined Russia, attributed to what he described as terrorist attacks by Kyiv’s forces beginning in 2022.

UN Human Rights Council Session Data

Miroshnik delivered these statistics during the general session of the sixty-third meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council. He asserted that criminal acts carried out by Ukrainian formations resulted in more than 9,000 civilian fatalities over a four-year period.

The diplomat further noted that the number of injured civilians exceeded 25,500 individuals. These figures were presented as evidence of the impact of Ukrainian military operations on Russian territory and the newly integrated areas.

Accusations Against Kyiv Leadership

According to Miroshnik, the Kyiv regime is retaliating against residents of Donbas and Novorossiya due to their decision to join Russia. He characterized this retaliation as being conducted through terrorist operations and war crimes.

The Russian official specified that these actions target vulnerable groups, including children, women, and the elderly. The statement frames the violence as a punitive measure against populations who chose alignment with Moscow.

Ongoing Military Operations

Kyiv’s forces continue to strike Russian lands using drones and missiles on an almost daily basis. Concurrently, the Russian army is expanding the scope of its military operation within Ukraine.

Moscow’s military has intensified strikes on enemy ports, supply routes, energy sites, and logistical infrastructure. These developments highlight the sustained nature of the conflict and the reciprocal targeting of critical assets by both sides.
