Saudi Arabia intercepts five drones over Eastern and Medina regions
The Saudi Defense Ministry announced the interception of four drones, followed by a fifth in the Eastern region.

Saudi Defense Ministry spokesperson Turki Al-Malki confirmed on platform X that four drones launched toward the kingdom were intercepted and destroyed. In a subsequent post, he specified that these defensive operations took place within the Eastern region and the Medina region.
Al-Malki did not identify the entity responsible for launching the unmanned aircraft. He later reported the interception of an additional drone, also located in the Eastern region, bringing the total number of neutralized threats to five.
Escalation in Houthi attacks
This development follows intensified strikes by Iran-backed Houthis against Saudi territory this month. The recent offensive included direct hits on Riyadh Airport.
One specific attack on October 10 resulted in the deaths of 13 people and injured hundreds of others. This incident stands as the deadliest assault on Saudi soil recorded in more than ten years.
