South Korea’s National Intelligence Service has assessed that a summit between the United States and North Korea remains possible “at any time,” with indications pointing to ongoing dialogue between the two countries, according to Deputy Yun Kun-young.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday and citing a briefing from the agency, Yun stated: “Regarding the summit between North Korea and the United States, analysis indicates it should be considered an event that could occur at any time.” The assessment was reported by Agence France-Presse.

The intelligence source did not specify whether the anticipated meeting would involve U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Last week, South Korea expressed hope for a return of President Donald Trump and leader Kim Jong Un to negotiations. That statement followed Trump’s announcement of a reduction in the scale of joint military exercises conducted with Seoul.
