South Korea and Algeria Agree to Establish Direct Air Route

The South Korean Ministry of Transport announced that both countries agreed to allocate air transport rights for up to four weekly flights to carry passengers and cargo.

A ministry official stated, "This agreement is significant because it will not only facilitate transportation to and from Algeria but also enable passengers traveling from various parts of Africa and some Mediterranean countries to reach South Korea."

South Korea and Algeria had previously signed an air services agreement in January 2005, which came into effect in July 2009. However, the absence of negotiations on air transport rights had prevented the launch of direct flights between the two nations.

Currently, South Korea operates only one direct air route to Africa, connecting Incheon and Addis Ababa, despite the continent's strong growth potential and increasing demand for intercontinental travel.
