The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Sunday that a tanker sustained damage from an unknown projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in damage to the engine room, without specifying the time of the incident. According to Reuters.

The authority confirmed the safety of all crew members, noting that no traces or environmental pollution were recorded in the area at the time of the statement.

Yesterday, UKMTO announced that an oil tanker had been hit by a projectile of unknown origin off the coast of Oman, specifically 4 nautical miles to the east.

Despite the damage to the engine room, maritime authorities confirmed that all crew members were safe and that no leakage or environmental impact had been recorded in the region so far.

This incident represents a continuation of the wave of targeted attacks and maritime incidents affecting commercial tanker traffic in vital waterways in the region, particularly those approaching the Strait of Hormuz and its surroundings, which casts a shadow over shipping risks and rising insurance costs for tankers in these strategic passages.
