The Al-Jamali Case: Iraq Seizes $20 Million and 60 Kilograms of Gold

Today, Sunday, the Supreme Judicial Council of Iraq announced the seizure of financial amounts exceeding $20.34 million USD, along with 200 million Iraqi dinars, and the recovery of 60 kilograms of gold, as part of investigations into Adnan al-Jamali, former deputy minister for liquidation affairs at the Ministry of Oil, and other individuals involved.

According to the Iraqi news agency "WAN", a judge from the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court stated in a statement relayed by the council that these actions were carried out in coordination with the Kurdistan Region, resulting also in the seizure of seven vehicles, as part of efforts to trace financial gains linked to what was described as mismanagement in projects executed by the suspect and associated parties.

He emphasized that follow-up and investigative measures remain ongoing to identify and seize funds and assets derived from the violations under investigation, confirming that the pursuit of other implicated individuals continues in preparation for completing legal procedures against them.

The case of Adnan al-Jamali comes at a time when Iraqi authorities are intensifying their efforts to pursue financial corruption cases and recover funds and assets obtained through misconduct in government projects.

Courts combating corruption are working in coordination with security agencies and local authorities across several governorates, including the Kurdistan Region, to track down assets and funds linked to the suspects.
