Thousands of Albanians have been protesting for 42 nights in Tirana against a luxury hotel project tied to Donald Trump's family and a Kanye West concert.
Thousands of Albanians gathered in the capital, Tirana, for the 42nd consecutive night on Saturday to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and to oppose a tourism project associated with Donald Trump's family.
Participants in the march also expressed their objection to a concert held on Saturday by controversial American rapper Kanye West, who faces bans on performances in some European capitals due to his anti-Semitic remarks.
The protesters, waving Albanian flags, chanted slogans against both Prime Minister Rama and West, who currently refers to himself as "Ye."
Prime Minister Rama met with the rapper at his office and later posted a video of the concert on social media, praising the event which attracted a large audience and awarding it a five-star rating.
It is difficult to determine the exact number of demonstrators who gather each night in the capital, but thousands reportedly participate daily, according to the news agency Agence France-Presse.
The protesters oppose the construction of a luxury hotel linked to the family of former U.S. President Donald Trump, with an estimated cost of $4.6 billion, planned on land designated as a nature reserve.
They argue that the hotel project, estimated at $4.6 billion and set to be built in the Zvërnec area, poses an environmental threat.
The developers aim to transform Sazan Island, previously a secret communist military base and currently uninhabited, into a luxury tourist destination.
Separately, Tehran announced that Oman and Iran have agreed to continue discussions to reach a mutual understanding to ensure the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
