US President Donald Trump said on Friday that Russia has agreed to send more than 300,000 tons of diesel fuel immediately to the US and global markets, following what Trump described as "very successful" talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Trump added that Russia will then send 3 million tons of diesel fuel within a short period depending on the status of diesel refineries there, and will supply the market with approximately another 500,000 tons in November followed by one million tons immediately after.
He stated: "Our complete control over the Strait of Hormuz," along with the announcement regarding Russian energy, will drive diesel prices for Americans and the world at large to "drop dramatically, and quickly."
Trump affirmed that lowering prices for Americans, particularly farmers, livestock breeders, and truck drivers, "is my top priority."
He concluded his post by saying: "It must also be understood that Iran will not possess a nuclear weapon."
According to Russian media, the conversation comes days after Trump announced arranging a call with Putin. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov had said on Wednesday that Moscow and Washington had not yet agreed on the date for the call.
The US Treasury Department reported that it would issue a temporary license to allow the flow of Russian diesel to global markets.
