Trump Announces Intensification of U.S. Strikes on Drug Cartel Facilities in Latin America
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American forces will intensify attacks on drug cartel production and smuggling facilities in Latin America, signaling a major shift in strategy.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American forces will intensify their attacks on the production and smuggling facilities of drug cartels in Latin America.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said: "The ground operation has actually just begun. It started a few months ago. We are hitting them very hard and strictly."
The U.S. President noted that the United States knows all the routes used by drug cartels.
Trump added: "We know where they live and we hit them hard. The upcoming strikes will be even harsher."
Trump emphasized that cartel members and leaders well understand that they have a specific timeframe to surrender.
Regarding U.S. operations, Trump said: "Mexico should have done this, but frankly, they are unable to do it."
According to observers, Trump's statements confirm a radical shift in U.S. strategy toward Latin America during his tenure, as Washington no longer limits itself to border defense but has moved to direct attacks deep within drug cartel strongholds.
Given Trump's skepticism about Mexico's ability to win the battle on its own and his confirmation of granting smugglers a specific deadline to surrender, the region appears headed for an unprecedented phase of military escalation.
While the U.S. administration insists on proceeding with its strict ground and air operations, questions remain open regarding the limits of national sovereignty for countries in the region and the political and security consequences that this open war against smuggling networks may leave behind.
