Trump Announces US Will Compensate Ships Damaged Using Iranian Funds
President Trump confirms the US will pay for damages to ships or cargo using Iranian assets frozen in the United States.

Early on Friday, US President Donald Trump affirmed that the United States will cover the costs of any damage inflicted on ships, shipments, or related property by utilizing Iranian funds held in America.
Trump expressed this commitment in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, "These damages may be very severe, but nonetheless, this is the fair and just course of action."
This statement follows attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia on Saudi vessels in the Red Sea, which contributed to an increase in oil prices, reaching $100 per barrel for the first time since May.
According to the American network CNN, determining an exact total value of frozen Iranian assets is challenging due to their distribution across various financial networks.
The network also noted that releasing these assets was a critical aspect for Tehran in the memorandum of understanding signed between Iran and the United States in June.
However, CNN highlighted that neither party adheres to the memorandum amid ongoing military strikes in the region and repeated Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Additionally, the group "Aspides" has issued warnings to American, Israeli, and Saudi ships about potential Houthi attacks.
