US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that Iran has approximately 3 days before its oil infrastructure is blown up.
Trump said in an interview on the "Sunday Briefing" program on Fox News that Iran can contact the United States if it wishes to negotiate an end to the war between the two countries.
He added that some of the people the US has dealt with in Iran are very rational and others are not, expressing his hope that the Iranian leadership would demonstrate "intelligence," as he put it.
He suggested that the war with Iran would end soon, affirming that "the United States will emerge victorious."
Trump renewed his criticism of NATO for not standing by the United States in its war against Iran, as he put it.
He also added in his statements: "I'm not very disappointed in China, but it could have helped more."
Regarding the attack that targeted the White House correspondents' dinner, Trump explained that securing the attack site was difficult, noting that the shooter did not get close to the banquet hall.
Trump revealed in his statements that the shooter had mental health issues according to available information, and that his family was aware of his problems.
The US president said that the shooting turned what had been a tense evening into a moment of unity.
Trump considered that the shooting incident during the White House correspondents' dinner highlights the need to establish a secured ballroom inside the White House, affirming that the project represents a security priority.
Trump posted on Truth Social: "What happened last night is the main reason our great military, Secret Service, law enforcement, and every president for the last 150 years for different reasons, have demanded the building of a large, safe Ballroom on the grounds of the White House."
He added: "This event would never have happened with the very secure, Military Ballroom being built at the White House right now. We cannot wait until it is completed! It is beautiful, has the highest safety features, no rooms above allowing unsecured persons, and sits inside the walls of the safest building in the World, the White House."
The US president continued: "The ridiculous Ballroom Lawsuit, brought by a woman walking her dog, who has no legal right whatsoever to bring such a lawsuit, should be dropped immediately. Nothing should be allowed to stop its construction, it's under budget and way ahead of schedule! Thank you for your attention to this matter."
Trump's statements came after a shooting incident during the White House correspondents' dinner in Washington, where he was hurriedly escorted off the stage after gunshots were heard.
In context, acting US Attorney General Todd Blanche said that authorities believe the suspect may have been targeting members of the Trump administration, noting that he had traveled from California to Washington before carrying out the attack.
He added that the suspect, aged 31, was arrested and faces charges, while investigations are ongoing to uncover the circumstances of the incident.
The attack caused widespread shock, with a number of world leaders expressing their condemnation of political violence, affirming the need to protect democratic institutions and freedom of the press.
