President Donald Trump formally nominated Todd Blanche for U.S. Attorney General, aiming to appoint his former personal lawyer to lead the Justice Department.

On Monday, President Donald Trump officially nominated Todd Blanche for the position of U.S. Attorney General, marking an effort to place his former personal attorney at the head of the country's law enforcement agency.
The White House announced that Trump submitted Blanche's nomination to the Senate, following the president's recent pledge to grant Blanche, who has served as acting Attorney General since April, a permanent appointment to the role.
This nomination serves as a vote of confidence in Blanche after the Justice Department was compelled to withdraw a plan to establish a fund worth nearly $1.8 billion intended for victims of what Trump described as the "politicization" of government institutions.
The proposed fund sparked strong opposition, primarily targeting Blanche, from both Republican and Democratic lawmakers.
