Trump Orders Immediate Gas Price Cuts and Warns Retailers
President Donald Trump urged US fuel stations to lower gasoline prices immediately, warning retailers against price hikes and criticizing high taxes in California.

President Donald Trump called on fuel stations across the United States to reduce gasoline prices immediately, stating that current prices do not reflect the recent decline in oil prices and warning retailers against raising prices.
Trump emphasized that "fuel stations must lower their prices immediately — they are far too high considering that oil is currently priced at $68 per barrel and is trending downward." He added, "Retailers should respond swiftly to this statement and do what they know is right — lower prices for our great American people! Price gouging will not be tolerated; it is completely illegal. If retailers fail to comply, they will face serious consequences."
He also urged that prices target approximately $2.50 per gallon and called on the state of California to cease imposing excessive gasoline taxes. Trump noted, "Soon, the tax will surpass the value of the product itself. The United States will not accept this, nor will the people of California, who are being exploited by these ridiculous taxes imposed by their own government."
Trump criticized these taxes as burdensome to consumers and called for their reduction.
