Trump: UK on the 'Brink of Disaster' Over My Migration and Energy Issues

US President Donald Trump said the UK is "on the brink of disaster," expressing concerns in an interview with GB News about soaring energy costs in the country, net-zero policies, and the impact of mass migration.

Relations between the UK and the US have fluctuated in recent years under Trump, deteriorating further after a formal visit to London in 2025 amid sharp criticism across a range of domestic and foreign policy issues.

Trump reiterated his praise for King Charles and spoke of his love for the UK as a nation, but said Prime Minister Andy Burnham's government faces serious challenges that must be overcome, according to Reuters.

"Your country is in crisis. You're on the brink of disaster... You have a massive problem with migration and a massive problem with energy. The cost of energy there is three or four times what it should be," said Trump.

Having previously dismissed climate change as a hoax, Trump criticized the UK’s shift away from fossil fuels and repeatedly urged successive leaders to exploit oil and gas reserves in the North Sea. He also claimed migration has changed the face of Britain.

"If you don't stop the flow of people coming into your country from around the world, you won't have a country left," he added.

Concerns over migration—particularly illegal arrivals via small boats from European regions—are among the top issues for many British voters and have significantly boosted the popularity of the right-wing Reform Party led by Nigel Farage.
