White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt outlined the main topics for President Trump's upcoming visit to China, including trade councils and a potential return visit.

President Donald Trump's upcoming visit to China on Wednesday will include a bilateral meeting and a working lunch before his departure on Friday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt announced Sunday. Leavitt also revealed that Trump intends to host Chinese President Xi Jinping for a visit later this year.
The United States and China will work to establish a joint council for trade and another for investment, according to Leavitt. The press secretary outlined these as the most important discussions for the trip.
Separately, a senior administration official said Trump plans to pressure his Chinese counterpart on the issue of Iran. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity during a call with journalists, stated: "I expect the president will apply pressure" on Xi Jinping, noting that Trump has done so in previous conversations with the Chinese leader.
The senior official also suggested that Trump and Xi are likely to discuss China's support for Iran and Russia.
