Turkey summoned Ukrainian ambassador over attack on two Turkish ships in Black Sea

Turkey’s Foreign Ministry summoned Ukrainian ambassador in Ankara Naryman Gulyal over two attacks that occurred this week in the Black Sea, targeting a Turkish vessel and a second ship sent to assist the first, according to the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

The ministry told AFP that the attacks took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry said: "During the meeting, Turkey emphasized the absolute necessity of ensuring the safety of people, property, navigation, and the environment in the Black Sea."

The ministry explained that the Turkish container ship "Lider Bordo Mavi" was targeted on Wednesday while off the Russian coast in the Black Sea.

On the following day, the ship "Lider Kojatbeh" sent to assist the container ship was also attacked, according to the ministry.

The ministry did not specify whether the attacks resulted in casualties.
