Two people died and buildings were damaged in Kyiv following intense Russian air raids, while strikes hit Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Kremenchuk.
Two individuals lost their lives in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv on Wednesday during the latest wave of near-daily Russian attacks. These operations, conducted around the clock against Ukraine’s neighbor in the fifth year of the war, also caused damage to various buildings and warehouses within the city.
Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, reported via the Telegram application that the bodies of the two victims were discovered after a fire broke out at a car garage cooperative following an air raid. A Reuters witness in the area confirmed hearing the sound of explosions across the city.
Regional officials stated on Telegram that separate air raids targeted other areas. In Dnipro, located in the southeast of the country, an industrial facility sustained damage. Additionally, transport infrastructure was affected in Zaporizhzhia, and several residential buildings were hit in Kremenchuk.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had warned in a speech delivered Tuesday evening about a "large-scale Russian attack" on the capital, which has been subjected to shelling almost every day.
The Ukrainian authorities accuse Russia of attempting to systematically destroy the country's infrastructure. This strategy is attributed to Moscow's inability to make progress on the front lines after approximately five years since the conflict began.
Russian strikes recently targeted two major bridges in the capital. Furthermore, the national company operating Ukraine's power grids imposed restrictions on electricity supplies on Tuesday. These measures followed attacks on energy facilities as winter approaches.
