Russian capital mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on Thursday that Russian air defenses shot down and destroyed most of the 613 Ukrainian drones heading toward Moscow.

Russian media earlier reported from the Moscow mayor this morning that air defenses had managed to shoot down 30 drones, then later reported that an additional 10 drones en route to the capital were also shot down.

The Russian news site Sputnik quoted Sobyanin as saying today that more than 231 drones flew toward Moscow Oblast during last night and early this morning, confirming that most were intercepted before reaching the capital.

Sobyanin wrote on his "Max" channel: "During the period from 20:30 on October 28 to 07:00 on October 29, 613 drones headed toward the Moscow region."

He added: "Russian air defense systems neutralized most of them at long distances, while 231 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow."

The Russian Air Transport Agency reported that temporary restrictions on flight operations were imposed at Zhukovsky, Domodedovo, and Vnukovo airports in the Moscow suburbs during the night and early hours of today, according to RT.
