UN Warns of Alarming Escalation in Southern Lebanon
The UN has warned of an alarming escalation in southern Lebanon, as UNIFIL reports intensified military activity across its operational area.

The United Nations has warned of an alarming escalation in southern Lebanon amid reports of intensified military activity by UNIFIL across its operational area.
Stéphane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) observed intense movement activities across its operational area over the weekend, including Israeli Air Force airstrikes, helicopter attacks, indirect fire, and naval operations in Lebanese territorial waters—developments reflecting rising tensions along the Blue Line.
Dujarric added that UNIFIL peacekeeping forces managed to detect and neutralize several unexploded ordnances in the region, yet simultaneously faced restrictions on their freedom of movement, as well as incidents of hostile behavior, undermining their ability to carry out missions effectively amid ongoing violations and breaches threatening the fragile stability in southern Lebanon.
