U.S. CENTCOM Reports 49 Commercial Vessels Redirected in Iranian Port Blockade

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed on Thursday that 49 commercial ships have been redirected under its ongoing maritime enforcement operations targeting Iranian ports.

In an official statement, CENTCOM reported that, as of Thursday, U.S. forces had redirected 49 commercial vessels, disabled two, and boarded two additional ships.

Resumption of Maritime Enforcement

American naval operations against vessels bound for or departing from Iranian ports and coastal areas resumed on 14 July, according to CENTCOM. The measure was implemented in response to attacks on commercial shipping and disruptions to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The command separately noted that 44 of the 49 redirected vessels were diverted after the blockade’s reactivation on 14 July.
