US Central Command Reports Redirecting 7 Ships and Disabling One in Naval Blockade on Iran

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday that American forces have redirected the course of seven commercial ships and disabled one vessel as part of the naval blockade imposed on Iran, up to July 20.

In a post on the platform X, CENTCOM stated that personnel aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) continue to support air operations around the clock from the Arabian Sea.

The US military reported that, by July 20, it had rerouted seven commercial vessels and disabled one ship to prevent vessels from leaving or entering Iranian ports.

These naval operations are part of the US forces' deployment in the region to monitor maritime traffic and enforce measures applied to Iran.

The United States has imposed a naval blockade on all Iranian ports and coastal areas starting from July 14.

According to the US-led Joint Maritime Information Center, the blockade applies to all ship movements regardless of their flag.

The center clarified that the blockade does not hinder the passage of neutral ships through the Strait of Hormuz to or from non-Iranian destinations.

It also confirmed that shipments of humanitarian aid will be allowed to pass, provided they undergo inspection.
