A Fox News correspondent reported that access to this facility, identified as the largest deportation center in the nation located in Louisiana, had been rare until now. The channel noted that approximately 30 percent of all U.S. deportations are processed through this specific airport.
Earlier reports by the New York Times indicated that Alexandria Airport was set to open a new center with capacity for more than 500 migrants awaiting removal. The destinations for Friday’s flights included Guatemala and El Salvador.
Judicial Clearance for Third-Country Removals
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court granted authorities temporary permission to resume deporting migrants to third countries that are not their nations of origin. This legal development facilitated the recent logistical operations.
President Donald Trump has implemented a policy aimed at removing illegal immigrants. During his inauguration, he pledged to immediately halt illegal entry into U.S. territory and initiate the deportation of millions of migrants. Additionally, he declared a national emergency regarding the situation at the southern border.
