Vance Reveals China's Readiness to Join in Isolating Iran

Confirmed Vance's continued economic and military pressure on Iran

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said on Thursday that Chinese officials are ready to cooperate in economically isolating Iran, as economic and security pressures on Tehran continue to mount.

Vance told reporters at the White House that economic and military pressure on Iran remains ongoing, emphasizing that Washington possesses numerous options and tools to sustain pressure on the Iranian regime.

Vance stated that the United States does not target civilians in Iran, adding that his country will not enter negotiations with Tehran unless it halts attacks on ships.

He noted that Washington has multiple options for dealing with Iran but clarified that they cannot be disclosed at this time.

Regarding maritime and energy movements, Vance said the volume of oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz has returned to previous levels, noting that nearly 15 million barrels of oil passed through the strait yesterday.

The U.S. vice president emphasized that the administration is working to involve the most capable elements of the U.S. military in confronting Iran.

On another front, Vance said the United States is investigating a strike that hit a wedding celebration in southern Iran, resulting in four deaths, and attributed responsibility to Tehran, while expressing skepticism about the Islamic Republic’s account.

He added: "I know we are investigating the matter... What I will say is that official Iranian media have not so far been reliable sources regarding what is happening in this conflict. So I am highly skeptical of that."
