Yemeni government forces, the "Southern Giants," managed on Tuesday to seize a new shipment of military equipment near the Bab el-Mandeb strait, which was on its way to the Houthi militia-controlled province of Hudaydah.

The "Southern Giants Brigades" website reported that the naval patrols of the forces, deployed in the Bab el-Mandeb sector of Yemeni territorial waters, intercepted a suspicious boat following precise intelligence monitoring and tracking.

It confirmed that the boat carried specialized materials and equipment used in weapons manufacturing, noting that its crew was detained and referred to the relevant authorities to complete legal procedures.

It stated that the specialized agencies are currently examining the contents of the smuggled shipment and fully securing it, while the "Southern Giants" forces will announce details of the required items and materials as soon as the examination, investigations, and necessary procedures are completed.

Despite tightened international maritime surveillance, various Yemeni security and military agencies have since the beginning of this year managed to seize 10 shipments of weapons and various military equipment smuggled to the Houthis, all in Red Sea waters.
