Western coast airstrikes confirmed by defense ministry
The Yemeni Ministry of Defense stated in a statement posted on X that Yemeni combat aviation carried out more than 15 air raids targeting Houthi militia positions, troop concentrations, and military vehicles along the western coastal front in the governorates of Taiz and Al-Hudaydah.
Ground engagements across multiple fronts
According to Yemeni military reports, Yemeni artillery units struck Houthi positions in Al-Kassarah, located in Marib Governorate. Simultaneously, fighting erupted in southern Taiz Governorate.
Clashes intensified following a Houthi ground offensive accompanied by rocket and drone attacks near Red Sea coastal areas and around Taiz city.
Casualty figures from military and medical sources
Military and medical sources operating in territories under Houthi control reported that at least 120 fighters were killed in the fighting since Thursday. A Red Sea coastal commander confirmed the deaths of 24 of his personnel. Another military official based in inland Taiz reported 15 fatalities in that area.
Medical sources in Houthi-controlled zones stated that no fewer than 42 Houthi militants were killed.
Houthi objectives near strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait
Yemeni government military sources told Agence France-Presse that Houthi forces are attempting to isolate the key Red Sea port city of Al-Mokha—which has been under sustained fire for weeks—from other government-held areas and advance toward regions adjacent to the strategically vital Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
