Yemen’s Central State Security Agency confirmed on Tuesday that Abu Hudhayfa al-Ansari, the official spokesperson for the Islamic State group, was killed in a joint security operation conducted with special forces affiliated with the Coalition Supporting Legitimacy.

According to the official Yemeni television, citing the intelligence agency, the operation had originally aimed to capture al-Ansari, a senior figure within the organization, but he was killed during its execution.

Joint Forces and Operational Details

The agency stated that special forces from the Coalition Supporting Legitimacy carried out the operation with support from Yemen’s 22nd Counter-Terrorism Brigade. Neither the location of the operation nor further details regarding the circumstances of al-Ansari’s death were disclosed.

The Central State Security Agency added that the joint forces withdrew from the operational area after completing their mission. It affirmed that no civilian casualties or damage occurred during the operation.
