Zelenskyy: Russian drone strike hits Ukrainian security chief’s office

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a Russian drone attack struck the headquarters of the Security Service of Ukraine “directly,” specifically hitting the office of its chief, and warned Moscow of an “immediate and tangible” retaliation.

The strike on Volodymyrska Street

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said he had spoken with Oleksandr Buhlyak, head of the Security Service of Ukraine, and added: “Unfortunately, a Russian drone hit the main building of the Security Service of Ukraine on Volodymyrska Street in Kyiv, opposite Saint Sophia Cathedral.”

Zelenskyy noted that emergency response teams were already on site and that all affected individuals would receive necessary assistance. He emphasized that the drone had “directly targeted the office of the head of the Security Service” inside that building.

Orders for a proportional response

Zelenskyy disclosed that he had instructed Buhlyak to carry out an “appropriate and tangible response — and one equivalent to this strike, if possible — against the Russians once preparations are complete,” and affirmed that Ukraine’s armed forces would back that action.

Kyiv Mayor’s Telegram channel reported that five people sustained injuries in the attack.
