Zelenskyy: I Was Unaware of Trump's Energy Truce Announcement

Axios reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he "was not aware of US President Donald Trump's announcement of a ceasefire in the energy sector between his country and Russia."

Axios added that Zelenskyy linked his country's agreement to the energy sector ceasefire to Moscow's approval.

Trump had previously announced an agreement between Moscow and Kyiv on an "energy truce," stating that the deal would take effect immediately, urging both parties to adhere to it and not violate it.

Trump said in a post on Truth Social: "The energy truce in the war between Russia and Ukraine is effective immediately; both sides have agreed to this. Please do not break this truce."

Trump had also stated yesterday that "it is time for Ukraine to have a new president," noting that "the current Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has not made sufficient effort to end the war between his country and Russia."

In remarks made from the White House on Saturday, Trump said: "I suggest they choose a new leader capable of making a deal," adding that "for some reason, Zelenskyy never does that."
