Meta Limits Free Use of Conversation Focus Feature on Smart Glasses
Meta restricts free access to Conversation Focus on its smart glasses to three hours monthly, requiring a subscription for extended use.

Meta has introduced new limitations on the use of the Conversation Focus feature in its smart glasses, allowing free access only for a limited number of hours each month. Extended use of this feature now requires subscribing to a paid plan.
According to Meta’s support page for the Meta One Premium subscription, users of the smart glasses receive three free hours per month to use Conversation Focus. After exhausting this free allowance, continuing to use the feature demands subscribing to Meta One Premium at a cost of $20 per month.
Although the subscription grants additional usage time, it does not provide unlimited access. The maximum monthly limit for using Conversation Focus is set at 15 hours, and unused hours do not carry over to the next billing cycle.
What Is the Conversation Focus Feature?
Meta introduced Conversation Focus in December 2025 to enhance listening quality during conversations. The feature uses artificial intelligence to isolate background noise and amplify the voice of the person speaking to the user. This facilitates easier communication in crowded or noisy environments.
The company stated at the feature’s launch that it helps users hear more clearly while reducing ambient noise. It is designed to benefit not only individuals with hearing difficulties but also any user seeking an improved daily communication experience.
Unexplained Reason for Usage Restrictions
Meta has not disclosed the reasons behind imposing these new usage restrictions on Conversation Focus. This has raised questions, especially since the feature operates directly on the glasses themselves and does not rely on company servers or internet connectivity, unlike many other AI features that require cloud processing.
How to Activate the Feature
Users can easily enable Conversation Focus by issuing a voice command to Meta AI. Once activated, the glasses enhance the speaker’s voice and reduce surrounding noise, providing a clearer listening experience during conversations.
Shift Toward Subscription Models
This move aligns with a broader trend among major technology companies to expand paid subscription models. By linking advanced features to monthly plans, companies aim to generate ongoing revenue beyond the initial sale of devices. This strategy has become increasingly common in the smart device market over recent years.
