US Commerce Department to Lift Export Restrictions on Anthropic's 'Feeble 5'
The US Commerce Department is expected to remove export controls on Anthropic's AI model 'Feeble 5' following a recent suspension due to national security concerns.

A knowledgeable source indicated that the US Department of Commerce will lift export restrictions on Anthropic's artificial intelligence model "Feeble 5" on Tuesday. This decision comes less than three weeks after the company was ordered to suspend access to its most advanced AI models over national security risks.
Anthropic had abruptly suspended access to both "Mythos 5" and "Feeble 5" following the issuance of an export control order on June 12, according to Reuters.
On Friday, Anthropic announced that the US government had authorized it to release the AI model "Claude Mythos 5" to certain "trusted" US institutions, marking a partial rollback of the suspension order.
Earlier reports from Politico had suggested the possibility of export controls being eased.
Meanwhile, amid concerns about technological isolation, Europe is seeking to attract Anthropic.
