Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, announced on Saturday that Chief Financial Officer Kaiser Ng will depart the company, following days after hackers stole a record amount equivalent to $6.3 billion from the firm.

"Kaiser Ng decided to embark on a new adventure after more than five years at Binance as part of a transition plan initiated six months ago," said Binance Co-CEO Yi He in a statement.

Justin Yik, a veteran CFO who recently served as Vice President of Finance at Aerowales, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer.

This announcement comes slightly more than a week after Binance revealed that cybercriminals stole cryptocurrencies in an advanced attack that began months earlier by compromising several employees' computers.

Binance explained that the breach, which occurred on October 29, started with malicious software hidden in software downloads and fake recruitment operations targeting engineers. The company stated it would fully compensate affected customers.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) blamed a North Korean hacking group for the theft, an accusation denied by Pyongyang.

Ng's LinkedIn profile indicates he has held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Binance since January 2022 and previously worked at rival cryptocurrency trading platform Kraken.
