Six detained in Turkish investment fund probe
Turkish authorities ordered the detention of six individuals, including a former deputy head of the capital markets board, amid an ongoing investigation into investment funds.

Turkish authorities have issued new detention orders for six people as part of the continuing investigation into the country’s investment fund scandal. The suspects include a former deputy chairman of the Capital Markets Board and officials from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, according to reports by NTV television and Reuters.
New detentions target regulatory officials
The latest group of arrests follows the formal apprehension of Istanbul Stock Exchange General Manager Korkmaz Ens Ergun. He had previously been detained on bribery charges linked to the same inquiry. The Capital Markets Board and banking supervision bodies are central to the scope of these recent legal actions.
Terra Yatirim license revoked
Last Wednesday, Turkish regulatory authorities canceled the operating license of Terra Yatirim Securities and suspended trading in its shares. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle the brokerage firm that sits at the heart of the crisis.
Market value plummets since September
The crackdown occurs against the backdrop of a severe market downturn that has erased more than $100 billion in value from Turkish equities since mid-September. The decline began when Terra Yatirim and several prominent asset management companies failed to meet redemption requests, triggering a rapid withdrawal of investments by clients.
