Trump Orders DOJ Probe into Oil Companies Over Gas Price Discrepancies
President Trump directs the US Justice Department to investigate oil firms for not lowering gasoline prices in line with falling oil costs.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump announced that he has tasked the United States Department of Justice with launching an investigation after alleging that oil companies have not reduced gasoline prices proportionally to the recent decline in oil prices.
Trump posted on the platform Truth Social, stating, "Major oil companies are not lowering prices at gas stations in accordance with the sharp drop in the prices of oil they purchase... I have ordered the Department of Justice to investigate this immediately."
Earlier, on Tuesday, Trump declared that the United States would keep the Strait of Hormuz open and cease its naval blockade, claiming this decision was due to concessions made by Iran.
In a post on Truth Social the previous day, Trump wrote, "19 million barrels of oil flowed through the Strait of Hormuz yesterday, setting a historic record... Oil prices are collapsing, and the world has become a much safer place!!!"
